Maryellen Hockensmith
Maryellen has been studying yoga, astrology and mysticism since 1989. In 2000, she began working with Larry Schaeffer to compose and produce meditative music. They built a studio together in 2004. In 2007, with Michael McCulloch, architect, she began extensive development of her 40-acre property: building, landscaping and conserving for future generations. Since then, she has produced and directed video, audio, and internet projects specifically geared toward spreading healing, peace, and joy.
Her goal has been to create a deep connection to place at her farm and sharing the gifts of that place with the community. Westwind has become known throughout the Portland community for hosting charitable events and fundraisers, open gardens, and healers who magnify their energies in this special place. Westwind also hosts deer, dragonflies, elk, birds of every northwest species, and coyote in its safe and open natural environment.
